The April edition of INSIGHT looks at an Airprox involving an LS1 glider and a Diamond DA42 operating to the north of Cranfield.

The article focusses on operating in the vicinity of airfields with instrument approach procedures outside controlled airspace and discusses possible considerations for pre-flight and in-flight planning regarding the altitudes at which the procedures are flown, and reminds pilots of the advice printed on the CAA VFR charts to contact the ATC unit if flying within 10 miles of any aerodrome marked with instrument approach ‘feathers’.

The April edition of INSIGHT can be seen on the Director UKAB Monthly update page.
